Know what’s on hand.

Scan groceries in as you put them away and out as you use them. Fimbul keeps a truthful count across your freezers, fridges and pantries, points you at what to eat first, and answers a bigger question: how many days could the household get by on what’s in the house right now?

FIMBUL IN SIXTY SECONDS

Every inventory app dies the day the record and the freezer disagree. Fimbul makes the record a by-product of putting the groceries away.

HOW IT WORKS
Scan in, scan out
One scan session, one mode, one place. Point the camera at barcode after barcode without tapping in between, so you can put the shopping away one‑handed at an open freezer door. Taking out works the same way, and always takes the oldest first.
Every place in the house
Kitchen freezer, garage chest, the fridge, the pantry, the shelf at the cabin. Each place has a type, and the type decides how long food is expected to keep there. Move a package from fridge to freezer and it keeps its age; only the expected shelf life changes.
Eat the oldest first
Every row shows how long its oldest package has left, from a shelf life that fits the food and the place. Over halfway, due soon and overdue each get their own word and symbol, never a colour alone.
Read the printed date
Has the package got a best‑before printed on it? Hold it in the frame and Fimbul reads the date, shows you what it read, and uses it instead of the estimate.
Write or dictate a shelf
“Two bags of mince and a tub of meat sauce in the freezer, a loaf from yesterday.” On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Fimbul turns that into rows you check and store. It all happens on the phone.
Nothing is deleted
Taking something out stamps it with a date and keeps it in the history. Counts, what’s due and what went to waste are all worked out from the record, so no number can drift away from what’s really in the house.
PREPAREDNESS

How many days could you get by?

Norwegian authorities advise every household to manage for seven days on its own. Fimbul doesn’t ask you to keep a separate emergency store: your everyday stock is part of it. The Preparedness tab only adds what a food inventory can’t express, and reports one number: your Coverage against the 7‑day target.

  • Coverage is the weaker of water-days and food-days, sized to your household
  • Freezer and fridge food is shown as “+N days while power holds”, because a power cut empties them first
  • Gaps name what you’re short on: water, medicine, hygiene, gear, and lines for a pet, an infant or prescription medicine
  • Rotate soon lists what to use and replace, with an optional Saturday reminder
  • Free, with no purchases in the app
FIMBULVETR

In the old stories, the Fimbulwinter lasted three years and only the prepared endured it.

Yours will probably last three days and a power cut. Fimbul counts what you actually have, and tells you what to top up before it matters.

WHAT FIMBUL WON’T DO
No account
Nothing to sign up for. The record stays on your iPhone. Hoddmímir runs no server and holds nothing of yours.
No tracking
No analytics, no advertising, no third-party code. The only thing that ever leaves the phone is a barcode number, sent to look up a product name.
No stored count
Every number on screen is worked out from the record of what went in and what came out. There is no total to get out of date.

Know your stores.
