Privacy policy
The short version. Our apps keep your data on your iPhone. We run no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We never receive your data, so we cannot see it, sell it or lose it.
What applies to every Hoddmímir app
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. We hold no user database.
- Nothing collected. Our apps send no usage data, no identifiers and no content to us or to anyone else. Each app ships a privacy manifest declaring no tracking and no collected data types, and its App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”.
- No third-party code. No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting libraries are built in. If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymised crash reports under Apple’s privacy policy. They contain no app content.
- Your backups are yours. If iCloud Backup or a computer backup is on for your iPhone, the app’s data is included in that backup like any other app’s. That is between you and Apple, and we have no access to it.
- Deleting the app deletes the data. Remove the app from your iPhone and everything it stored on the device goes with it.
- Not for children. Our apps are household tools for adults and are not directed at children under 13.
Fimbul
Fimbul keeps a record of what your household has in its freezers, fridges and pantries, and works out how many days you could get by on it.
What Fimbul stores, on your iPhone
- Products you have scanned or typed: names, brands, barcodes, categories and energy content.
- Each package: where it is, when it was stored and taken out, and any printed best-before date you scanned or entered.
- Your storage locations and their types.
- Your Preparedness settings: how many people are in the household, the day target, energy and water per person, and whether the household includes a pet, an infant or someone on prescription medicine.
- Water and supplies you record, with their best-before dates.
All of this lives in the app’s own storage on your device. Fimbul does not currently sync between devices. If we add sync later, it will use your own private iCloud storage, and this policy will be updated first.
Barcode lookup, the one thing that leaves the phone
When you scan a barcode Fimbul has not seen before, it sends the barcode number alone to two product databases to find the product’s name, brand and energy content: first Kassalapp, which covers Norwegian groceries, and if that has no answer, Open Food Facts. The request carries no identity, no inventory and no household details. Like every request on the internet it does carry ordinary technical information such as your IP address, which those services handle under their own privacy policies.
Fimbul keeps the answer on your phone, so each barcode is looked up once. If you are offline, you can name the product yourself instead.
Camera
Fimbul uses the camera only to read barcodes, QR Stickers and printed best-before dates. The image is processed on the device as it is captured. No photos or video are saved or sent anywhere.
Write or dictate
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, you can describe a shelf in words and let Fimbul turn it into rows. The text is read by Apple’s on-device model and never leaves the phone. Dictation is the iOS keyboard’s own feature and follows your iOS settings.
Notifications
If you turn on the weekly rotation reminder, Fimbul schedules it locally on your phone. The notification can appear on a locked screen, so it names food but never names a supply such as a medicine.
Deleting your data
Delete a product in the app to remove it and its history, or delete the app to remove everything.
Mund
Mund is a ledger for a person appointed verge for an adult relative. It is still in development; this section describes the app we are building, and will be reviewed before release.
What Mund stores, on your iPhone
- About the person under vergemål: name and year of birth only. There is no field for a national ID number anywhere in the app.
- About you as verge: your name, the dates of the mandate, and whether you have been granted an exemption from accounting.
- Accounts, transactions, categories and notes.
- Photos and PDFs of receipts and other supporting documents (bilag) you capture, and the date until which each must be kept.
- App settings, such as the app lock and reminder preferences.
Receipts often carry sensitive details: national ID numbers, account numbers, medicine names. That is why Mund stores its files with iOS file protection, locks the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode by default, and shows nothing in the app switcher.
Your role, and ours
As verge you act under a public mandate and a duty of confidentiality, and you are responsible for the information you keep. Hoddmímir never receives any of it. Mund has no backend, runs no sync, and makes no network requests at all, with one exception: if you buy the paid features, Apple handles the purchase through the App Store under Apple’s privacy policy. We see no payment details.
Camera, Photos and Face ID
The camera and your photo library are used only when you choose to capture or pick a receipt. Face ID or Touch ID is used only to unlock the app; the biometric check is done by iOS, and the app never sees your face or fingerprint data.
Notifications
Deadline reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. The reminder text refers to the mandate and never names the person.
Export and backup
The April export package and any backup you make are created on your phone and handed to the iOS share sheet. Where they go, to Files, iCloud Drive, mail or a computer, is your choice, and they contain the sensitive documents described above. Keep them accordingly, and never send a backup to us: we will not ask for one.
Deleting your data
Delete a mandate in the app to remove its ledger and every receipt file, or delete the app to remove everything. When a mandate ends and its retention period has passed, Mund offers deletion; it never deletes anything on its own.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export and erase personal data a company holds about you, and to complain to a supervisory authority, in Norway Datatilsynet. Because our apps keep everything on your device and send nothing to us, we hold no personal data about you to act on. The in-app tools for correcting, exporting and deleting described above are how you exercise those rights over your own record. If you have a question all the same, write to post@hoddmimir.no.
Changes to this policy
If an app starts handling data differently, for example by adding iCloud sync, we will update this page before the change ships and note the new date at the top. The current version is always at www.hoddmimir.no/privacy.html.
