ᚠᚱᚢᚢᛋᛒᛋᚱᛞ · HODDMÍMIR
Tools for the well‑prepared home.
Named for the well of memory beneath the world tree, Hoddmímir builds small, calm iPhone apps for Norwegian households: know what you have in the house, and be ready for what comes, whether that is a power cut or a deadline in April. No accounts. Nothing collected.
THE APPS
Fimbul
COMING SOON
Scan groceries in and out of your freezers, fridges and pantries. Fimbul keeps a truthful count, says what to eat first, and works out how many days the household could get by on what’s at home. Free, no account.
Mund
IN THE WORKS
For the family member appointed verge for a relative. Keep the ledger and the receipts through the year, and export a package in April that makes the annual report to Statsforvalteren a transcription. Everything stays on your phone.
WHY THE NAMES
Old words for a new kind of readiness.
In Norse myth, Hoddmímir’s holt is where life shelters through the Fimbulwinter and emerges when it ends. Mund is the Old Norse word for the protecting hand, the root of the Norwegian formynder. We think being prepared should feel like that: quiet, unfussy, already handled. No sirens, no clutter, no accounts. Just knowing what’s in the house, and what’s due.
Own what you have
Fehu — provisions. Every app starts with a truthful record of what’s already in the house, kept as a by-product of ordinary life.
Steady through the cold
Isa — ice. Readiness as a quiet habit, not a panic. Rotate, replace, repeat.
Yours stays yours
Dagaz — day. No accounts, no servers, no analytics. Your data lives on your phone and never passes through us.
